Outfielder Robert Perry of the Windy City Thunderbolts has signed with the Colorado Rockies.
The Windy City ThunderBolts professional baseball team has announced that the contract for outfielder Robert Perry has been purchased by the Colorado Rockies. Perry becomes the 6th players from the ThunderBolts roster to be signed by a MLB club this season.
Perry was signed by the ThunderBolts on June 27th after beginning the season in Single-A Lake Elsinore of the California League. In 61 games with the ThunderBolts, Perry batted an impressive .397 compiling 83 hits in just over 200 at bats. Perry’s proved to be a stellar defensive player as he committed just 2 errors in 112 chances. Perry ranked third on the team with 20 stolen bases and tied a Frontier League record with six hits in a game against the Gateway Grizzlies on July 30.
Perry joins pitchers Dylan Axelrod (Chicago White Sox), Nick Hall (San Diego Padres), Sean Heimpel (San Diego Padres), Brandon Kloess (Chicago White Sox), and Shane Zegarac (Texas Rangers) as ThunderBolts’ who have moved to affiliated baseball since the start of the 2009 season.
Perry is the 7th Frontier League player since the end of the 2009 season to be signed by an MLB organization.
