Dream a Little Dream

Ah, how I love early season baseball.  Where the Blue Jays and Rays are tied atop the AL East, Garrett Jones of the Pirates is tops in the NL is home runs, and Dallas Braden (who?) of the Oakland Athletics is your Major League strikeout champion.  One can dream, can’t he?  Oh, so harsh, that reality, and great equalizer, that is 162 games that takes into account not just the level of talent in the big leagues, but the depth of the entire organization.  But screw it, here is your 4-game award winners:

NL MVP – Edgar Renteria – batting .688 for the 4-0 Giants

AL MVP – Vernon Wells – 4 home runs, 7 RBI, in 4 games for the first place Jays

NL Cy Young – Jorge De La Rosa – 7 innings, 1 hit, 9 strikeouts for Colorado

AL Cy Young – Dallas Braden – 7 innings, 4 hits, 10 strikeouts for the first place Athletics

Rolaids Reliever of the Year – Jon Rauch, 3 saves in 4 games for the Twins

  1. One could call Mike Gonzalez the reliever of the year so far.

He’s responsible for more wins that any other pitcher, just for the wrong team.

I am regretting taking the over on the 68.5 win line for the O’s this year…
